Antique lace Brabant lace / History

Brabant Race

This is a type of traditional bobbin lace made in the Brabant region of Belgium (an area that now spans parts of France, Belgium, and the Netherlands) from the 16th to 18th centuries. It is made from delicate linen thread and has a firm yet flexible texture.

To be honest, this area overlaps with Brussels Bobbin and Flemish, so it is very difficult to tell them apart.
