Long ago, it was used as underwear. Although it was not worn in public, the lace and embroidery decorations show the attention to detail that was so prevalent at the time.
The part that appears to be a skirt is actually a pair of culottes and is torn due to toilet conditions.
There is a small hole on the back right near the culottes slot.
The ribbon is a synthetic ribbon from a later period, but we have included a vintage deadstock item.
